Barnes Laurent has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of research and development, with a focus on skin biology and tissue engineering.

- From 2017 to the present, Laurent has worked at Cutiss AG as a Senior Research Manager, overseeing the development and improvement of a manufacturing process for a human-based cell engineered tissue. They have also managed a team of technicians and handled project management responsibilities.

- Prior to this, Laurent worked at the University of Geneva from 2009 to 2017. During this time, they held multiple roles, including Senior Research Scientist and PostDoc/Research Scientist. Their work involved studying the role of extracellular matrix in the regulation of epidermal stem cells, conducting clinical studies, and teaching at the bachelor/master level. They also had technical skills in using animal models and various laboratory techniques.

- From 2005 to 2009, Laurent worked at LVMH Recherche (Parfums Christian Dior) as an Innovation Engineer and conducted their PhD thesis on tracking genotoxic markers in the epidermis in response to solar radiations.

- In 2004, Laurent worked as an Engineer Assistant at the Institut Universitaire de Recherche Clinique de Montpellier, studying cell cycle regulators in epidermis cells.

- From 2003 to 2004, Laurent worked as a Development Engineer at Unilever Research in the Netherlands, where they focused on the digestibility and bioavailability of insoluble vitamins and the study of anti-cholesterol compounds from plant sources.

Barnes Laurent's education history begins with a DUT (Equivalent to Bachelor degree) in applied biology from Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, which they completed from 1997 to 1999. Barnes then pursued a "Magistère" in microbiology and enzymology from Nancy University between 1999 and 2002. After that, they studied for their PhD in Biology at Université Montpellier I from 2005 to 2008. Laurent then obtained a Diploma of Advanced Studies in the Management of Clinical Trials from the University of Geneva from 2012 to 2013.
