Chathuraka Waas

Chathuraka Waas has worked in the tech industry since 2011. Chathuraka started as a Junior Software Engineer at Mazarin (Pvt) Ltd in 2011, and was promoted to Senior Software Engineer in 2012. In this role, they were responsible for communicating with customers to acquire requirements, designing systems, and mentoring junior colleagues. Chathuraka also worked on two projects: Fanminder, a US startup focused on social-mobile SaaS loyalty programs, and Rikslunchen Restaurants, a system that handled restaurants who accepted Risklunchen Lunch cards in Sweden. In 2017, they became a Product Manager at The Gifted Company, where they led the development team to build a MVP from idea to production within 3 months, implemented a digital gift cards distribution flow, and spearheaded the development of an internal tool that helped the operations team to reduce the merchant onboarding duration from 3 months to 2 weeks. In 2019, they took on a Director Product Management role at Cut+Dry, and also became a Product Tank Colombo Organizer at Mind the Product, where they were responsible for co-organizing the meetup.

Chathuraka Waas has a diverse education background. Chathuraka obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Colombo between 2014 and 2016, specializing in Business Administration and Management, General. Chathuraka also obtained a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering from Staffordshire University between 2008 and 2011. Additionally, they attended Maris Stella college,Negombo from 1993 to 2006. Chathuraka also holds four certifications, including Sun Certified Java Programmer from Sun Microsystems (2007), Certified Scrum Product Owner from Scrum Alliance (2017), Project Management Professional from Project Management Institute (2014), and Certified Scrum Master from Scrum Alliance (2014).
