Renee Hoover

Renee Hoover is the Director of Finance for Charlottesville City Schools. Renee has over 25 years of experience in government and non-profit finance, accounting, and administration.

Renee began their career in government as a fiscal officer for the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission. Renee then worked as an auditor for RFC Associates before being promoted to Director of Operations for the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority. In 2005, they accepted a position as Director of Finance for the County of Fluvanna, where they served for seven years.

In 2012, Renee returned to Charlottesville City Schools, where they have served as Director of Finance for the past eight years. In this role, they are responsible for the financial management of the school district, including budgeting, accounting, and auditing. Renee has also played a key role in the district's capital improvement program.

Renee is a certified public accountant and a member of the Virginia Government Finance Officers Association. Renee is a graduate of James Madison University, where they earned a bachelor's degree in accounting.

Renee Hoover has an MBA from Averett University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Bridgewater College.

Their manager is Royal A. Gurley, Superintendent. They are on a team with Pat Cuomo - Director of Technology, Katina W. Otey - Chief Academic Officer, and Kim A. Powell - COO.
