Archibald Neil MacDonald's work experience starts in 2014 as a Teaching Assistant at Abertay University, where they assisted in teaching computer games students. In 2014, they also joined DEM Solutions as a Software Developer, where they worked on the flagship product EDEM and implemented couplings between the EDEM solver and other simulation modelling packages. Archibald Neil then joined ION Geophysical in 2017 as a Software Engineer, where they developed for the Marlin project and worked with JNI, Google protobufs, ZeroMQ, and PostgreSQL. In 2018, they joined Esri as a Software Engineer and was responsible for maintaining the Qt SDK for ArcGIS Runtime. Archibald Neil also had a role as a Product Engineer at Esri. Finally, in 2022, they joined Cyacomb as a Senior Software Engineer.

Archibald Neil MacDonald received their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Games Technology from Abertay University, where they studied from 2010 to 2014. After a brief gap, they pursued further education at The Open University, where they began studying for a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in 2016. Archibald Neil is expected to complete their studies at The Open University in 2025.
