Brent Carrara, Ph.D. has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles and industries. Their most recent role is as the Founder and CTO of Cybrid Technology Inc., a position they have held since December 2021. Prior to this, they co-founded and worked as a Security Engineering Consultant at Carrara Engineering Inc. from February 2016, where they contributed to security assessments, software development, and project management for secure communication platforms.

Before that, Brent served as the VP of Technology and Interim Chief Technology Officer at Thinking Capital from November 2020 to September 2021. Brent was responsible for leading DevOps, IT, Data, and Engineering teams, as well as overseeing the launch of Thinking Capital's Cash Flow Advisor product.

Brent also held the position of Head of Security at Ario from October 2020 to October 2020 when the company was acquired by Thinking Capital. During their time at Ario, they played a crucial role in building their small business platform and establishing the security program from scratch.

From 2010 to 2017, Brent worked with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) in various roles, including Enterprise Security Architect, Senior Software Engineer, and Software Engineer. Brent gained experience in leading software development teams, conducting research in computer and network security, and managing budgets and staff recruitment.

Prior to their work with CSIS, Brent had a brief period of self-employment as a Consultant. Brent also worked at IBM as a Software Developer and at Arius Software as a Lead Compiler Developer.

Throughout their career, Brent has demonstrated expertise in security assessments, software development, project management, and leading teams.

Brent Carrara, Ph.D. obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Computer Software Engineering from the University of Waterloo, where they studied from 2001 to 2006. Brent then pursued their Master's Degree in Computer Science at the University of Ottawa from 2008 to 2010. Later, from 2012 to 2016, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Engineering at the University of Ottawa. It should be noted that no further information is provided beyond these educational experiences.
