James Downing has held a variety of roles in the corporate world since 1997. James began their career at Chase as Co-Head European Investment Banking and Head of European Mergers & Acquisitions. In 2000 they moved to JPMorgan Chase & Co. as Deputy Head European Investment Banking. In 2003, they founded and became President and Chairman of London Youth Rowing. In 2010, they became Non Executive Director & Acting Chairman of Winsway Enterprises Limited. In 2013, they were appointed Non-Executive Director of Essex Group Asia Pacific Limited. In 2015, they became Non Executive Chairman of Native Land. In 2016, they were appointed Senior Advisor of UK Agricultural Finance Ltd and Non Executive Deputy Chairman of Andrew Martin International. In 2017, they became Non Executive Director of Cydar Medical, making game-changing software using AI and cloud based computing to deliver automated 3D overlays into the operating room for surgical guidance. In 2019, they were appointed Senior Advisor of Sparrho, a direct to consumer, digital startup transforming scientific journals into easy to understand, bitesize summaries.
James Downing received a Bachelor of Science in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute between 1972 and 1976. James then went on to obtain a Masters of Public & Private Management (MBA) from Yale School of Management between 1980 and 1982.
