Sean Stetson

VP of Engineering at Cyngn

Sean Stetson has extensive work experience in various engineering and leadership roles. Sean is currently the VP of Engineering at Cyngn, starting in April 2023. Prior to this, Sean worked at Seegrid as the Vice President of Engineering from June 2018 to July 2022. During their time at Seegrid, they also served as the Director of Product from January 2016 to June 2018, where they developed the product vision and strategy, leading to an increase in the deployed robot fleet and ROI.

Before Seegrid, Sean worked at Google as a Technical Project Lead - Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) from December 2012 to December 2015. In this role, they led projects in mobile imaging, including multi-aperture cameras, computational photography, and gesture-based camera launch.

Sean's earlier experience includes working at Akustica, a Bosch company, where they were the Director of Product Development from November 2009 to December 2012. Prior to that, they worked at Akustica as a Sr. Development Engineer from November 2005 to November 2009, collaborating with a major U.S. consumer electronics company.

Sean began their career at Texas Instruments, where they worked for seven years as a Systems Engineer and Architect in various product areas within broadband communications. Sean contributed to the development of a first-in-class, fully-integrated DSL analog front-end device as part of the Broadband Communications Group.

Overall, Sean Stetson has a diverse background in engineering and leadership, with a focus on autonomous robots, mobile imaging, and broadband communications.

Sean Stetson attended Carnegie Mellon University from 1988 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering. Sean then pursued further education at the University of Michigan from 1994 to 1998, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical Engineering.
