Soonhac Hong

Soonhac Hong, PhD, is a highly experienced robotics professional with a focus on autonomous navigation, localization, and mapping systems. Currently serving as the Technical Lead Manager at Cyngn, Soonhac specializes in calibration, localization, and mapping since June 2025. Previous roles include Staff Robotics Engineer and Director of Autonomy at B GARAGE, where expertise in aerial robot navigation was developed. Soonhac also held senior positions at Gatik and JD.COM, concentrating on Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) and machine learning applications in navigation. Additional contributions include work at ABB, Sharp Labs of America, and multiple research positions during graduate studies, culminating in a PhD in Engineering Science and Systems from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
