Martin Mense

Senior Vice President Drug Discovery at Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

Martin Mense has extensive work experience in the field of drug discovery. Martin held various roles at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, starting as a Principal Scientist for Drug Discovery from October 2009 to May 2014. Martin then became the Vice President for Drug Discovery from June 2014 to March 2021, and is currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Drug Discovery since April 2021.

During their time at Epix Pharmaceuticals from November 2007 to July 2009, Martin Mense worked as a Principal Scientist, where they led the CF drug discovery program and played a significant role in milestone achievements. Martin also established the CF biology group, built a team of four direct reports, and managed external collaborations with CROs and academic partners.

Before that, Martin Mense worked as a Scientist II at Synta Pharmaceuticals from October 2006 to October 2007 and as a Research Associate at Rockefeller University from August 2000 to October 2006.

Additionally, Martin Mense served as a Scientific Consultant at CFRx/Flatley Discovery Lab from December 2009 to July 2011.

Martin Mense has a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Physiology from Yale University, which they obtained from 1995 to 2000. Prior to that, they completed a Diplom in Physics at the University of Konstanz from 1989 to 1995. In addition, they pursued a Master of Science in Physics at Portland State University from 1992 to 1993.
