Dominic O'Brien has extensive work experience in the field of intellectual property law. Dominic is currently serving as the Chief IP Counsel and Vice President at Cytiva (formerly GE Life Sciences) since April 2020. Prior to this, they worked at GE Healthcare from 2011 to 2020, where they held the positions of Head of IP, GE Healthcare Life Sciences and Senior IP Counsel & Team Manager. Before joining GE Healthcare, they worked at J A Kemp as an Associate from 2008 to 2011. Dominic also has experience working at AstraZeneca as a Senior Patent Attorney from 2004 to 2008, and at PAGE WHITE & FARRER as a Technical Assistant from 2000 to 2004.

Dominic O'Brien earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge from 1996 to 2000. Prior to that, they obtained their Master of Arts (MA) degree in Natural Sciences from the same institution from 1993 to 1996. O'Brien also has additional certifications including the Intellectual Property Litigation Certificate from the Intellectual Property Regulation Board in 2012, the Chartered Patent Attorney certification from The Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys in 2004, and the European Patent Attorney certification from the European Patent Office in 2004.
