Grant Bedford

Grant Bedford is a highly experienced patent attorney currently serving as a Senior Patent Attorney at Cytiva since March 2020. Prior to this role, Grant worked at General Electric as a European & Chartered UK Patent Attorney from January 2006 to June 2019 and at D Young & Co LLP as a European Patent Attorney from January 2000 to December 2005. Training began at D Young & Co LLP, focusing on software and computer-related inventions and expanding expertise to include opto-electronic telecommunications systems. Experience includes significant international exposure, such as a business trip to Japan and work with a Japanese patent firm. Earlier in Grant's career, experience as a UKIPO Patent Examiner from September 1997 to December 1999 included training in examining opto-electronic displays and computer-implemented inventions. Grant holds a PhD in Medical Instrumentation from the University of London, an MS in The Physics of Laser Communications from the University of Essex, and a BS in Physics and Applied Physics with Electronics from the University of Nottingham.
