John Faurescu

John Faurescu was appointed Vice President of Corporate Legal in March 2022. Since joining Cytokinetics in 2019, John has played a crucial role in the company’s legal function. Over the years he has held various roles of increasing responsibility within the company, some of which include broad licensing and contracting for various departments and overseeing the company’s U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission reporting. John has also provided legal expertise and oversight on the company’s strategic partnerships and equity and debt public offerings.

John is a corporate, securities and transactional lawyer with over 17 years of experience. He started his career at Linklaters in Europe, where he practiced as a corporate and transactional lawyer with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, particularly transactions involving life science companies, and has been on both sides of the negotiation table of complex business transactions with many of the big pharma companies, including GSK, Pfizer, Eli Lilly and Bayer. John has since also worked as in-house counsel at several pharmaceutical and biotech companies, most recently at Impax Laboratories and Ardelyx.

John is admitted to the California, New York and Massachusetts bars, as well as a qualified solicitor of England & Wales.

John is a history buff and an avid traveler, having visited over 30 countries. In his free time, he enjoys skiing and exploring archeological and world heritage sites with his two children.
