Madan Paidhungat has a strong background in protein engineering and molecular biology. Madan is currently the Director of Protein Engineering at CytomX Therapeutics, where they started in 2017. Before that, Madan served as the Director of Biology at Dice Molecules from 2013 to 2017, where they helped establish the biology department and implemented high-throughput processes. From 2009 to 2013, Madan worked as the Director of Molecular Biology at Perseid Therapeutics, a subsidiary of Astellas Pharma. In this role, they managed a team and oversaw the development of therapeutic protein candidates through directed evolution. Prior to that, Madan was the Associate Director of Molecular Biology at Catalyst Biosciences from March 2009 to August 2009, where they directed protein evolution efforts for protease-based therapeutics. Madan started their industry career at Maxygen in 2001, where they held various positions including Senior Scientist and Project Leader. During their time at Maxygen, Madan led cross-functional teams and developed protein therapeutics and vaccines using their directed evolution platform. Madan's academic background includes a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Connecticut, where they studied bacterial spore germination and mentored students and visiting scientists. Overall, Madan's work experience demonstrates their expertise in protein engineering, directed evolution, and molecular biology.
Madan Paidhungat completed their Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry from Duke University. Madan pursued this degree from 1992 to 1997.
