Fabian Theis

Fabian Theis is a prominent figure in the field of biomedical AI and computational biology, currently serving as the Scientific Director of Biomedical AI at Helmholtz Pioneer Campus, Helmholtz Munich since December 2022. Theis has extensive experience at Helmholtz Munich, where roles include Head of the Computational Health Center, Institute Director for the Institute of Computational Biology, and Junior Group Leader for Computational Modeling in Biology. Additionally, Theis holds a chair for Mathematical Models of Biological Systems at Technische Universität München and contributes to several consulting roles, including with Cellarity, Omniscope, Immunai, and Singularity Bio. Theis is also a Co-chair of the AI Council at the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Arts and a partner at the start-up Dermagnostix GmbH. Academic credentials include a Diploma, PhD, and Habilitation in Mathematics, Physics, and Biophysics from the University of Regensburg, as well as a PhD in Computer Science from Universidad de Granada.
