John Roling began their career at Bank of America as an MIS Analyst from December 1995 to February 1998. John then worked as a Lotus Consultant at Vision Enterprises from February 1998 to March 1999. From March 1999 to April 2004, they served as the Manager of Groupware Services at T-Systems Inc., where they were responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of North American groupware systems.

In 2004, John joined WebMediaBrands as a Columnist, focusing on using IBM technologies for intranets. John continued this role until December 2009. In July 2004, they also began working as the Manager of Collaboration Services at Czarnowski and held this position until July 2009.

In July 2009, they transitioned to the role of Manager of Information Technology at Czarnowski, where they worked until July 2010. From July 2010 to September 2017, they served as the Director of IT Infrastructure at Czarnowski. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Director of IT Infrastructure at Czarnowski, a role they have been in since September 2017.

In addition to their work experience, John was the owner of Storm Internet Solutions starting from November 1999.

John Roling obtained a H.S. Diploma in General studies from Western Dubuque High School from 1986 to 1989. John further pursued their education at Truman State University from 1989 to 1994, earning a BA degree in Communications - Journalism. In addition to their formal education, John Roling also holds various certifications, including the Smartsheet Product Certified User, Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge, and several IBM certifications related to Lotus Notes and Domino.
