Catherine Y. Li

Catherine Y. Li is a Vice President at The D. E. Shaw Group, focusing on emerging markets macro since August 2018. Catherine's experience includes roles as Trader and Rotational Associate at the same company, where responsibilities involved rotations in the COO's office, discretionary macro, and portfolio strategy. Prior to this, Catherine worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, developing statistical methods for gene expression prediction, and served as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University, teaching several mathematics and machine learning courses while earning the Derek Bok Center Certificate of Distinction in Teaching. Earlier, Catherine was a Risk Intern at The D. E. Shaw Group and conducted research at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, receiving several prestigious fellowships for contributions to scientific research. Catherine holds a Bachelor of Arts in Statistics from Harvard University, completed in 2018, and graduated from Shanghai American School with a high school diploma in 2014.
