Farshid Varno

Farshid Varno is an accomplished engineer and researcher with extensive experience in machine learning and computer architecture. Currently serving as a Staff Engineer at d-Matrix since June 2025, Farshid previously held the position of AI Research Scientist at Rain from August 2023 to June 2025, and worked as a Consultant and ML Engineer at Varnio Technologies, where expertise in distributed, edge, and federated machine learning solutions was demonstrated. Prior roles include ML Research Scientist at Imagia, where significant research contributions in Federated Learning and Transfer Learning were made, including achieving state-of-the-art performance and filing a patent. Farshid has also engaged in academia as a Co-Instructor and Teaching Assistant at Dalhousie University. A PhD graduate in Computer Science from Dalhousie University, Farshid has a solid foundation in advanced topics related to AI and machine learning.
