Giulia Besana currently serves as the Deputy Director for D-tree International in Zanzibar, a position held since September 2021. Prior to this role, Giulia was the Reproductive Health and Gender Adviser at The Nature Conservancy, where responsibilities included providing technical oversight and acting as a spokesperson for reproductive health and gender issues across the continent. Previous experience includes co-founding and managing Totohealth Tanzania, where significant funding was secured and strategic plans developed, as well as various consultancy roles focusing on monitoring and evaluation in health-related projects. Giulia obtained a Master’s degree in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and holds a Bachelor's degree in African Studies and Geography from SOAS University of London.
