Heiko Hornung

Director Of Technology, Data And Innovation at D-tree

Heiko Hornung has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as the Director of Technology, Data, and Innovation at D-tree International since 2018. In this position, they have been responsible for developing processes and methodologies to support program design strategies, leading the design and specification of an integrated community health system, and designing mobile app content and workflows for community health volunteers and supervisors.

Prior to joining D-tree International, Heiko worked at Universidade Estadual de Campinas, where they served as an Assistant Professor from 2015 to 2018. During this time, they conducted Technology Innovation and Design projects in various domains, including inclusive education, older adults with dementia, and social inclusion. Heiko also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher from 2014 to 2015, co-writing grant proposals that received funding and publishing and presenting scientific articles.

Additionally, Heiko gained extensive experience at SAP, where they held the position of Technology Consultant from 2002 to 2005. In this role, they conducted projects related to IT installation, upgrade, migration, operations, maintenance, and data archiving for multinational customers in different industries. Heiko also played a key role in high-risk Unicode migration projects and defined strategy concepts for language roll-outs, as well as delivered standard globalization consulting service offerings.

Heiko Hornung completed their education at various institutions and achieved significant academic milestones. Heiko first attended Technische Universität Darmstadt from 1996 to 2002, where they obtained a Master's degree in Management Information Systems, General. Later, they pursued further education at Universidade Estadual de Campinas, earning a Master's degree in Computer Science from 2006 to 2008. Heiko continued their academic journey at the same university and completed their highest formal education by obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Human Computer Interaction from 2008 to 2013.
