Machine Learning Research Scientist at DAACI

Helena Cuesta has a diverse work experience in the field of music technology and machine learning. Helena is currently working as a Machine Learning Research Scientist at DAACI and Time Machine Capital 2 Limited since 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Ph.D. Student/Researcher at the Music Technology Group from 2017 to 2022, focusing on ensemble singing analysis. Helena also gained experience as a Visiting Student at the Music and Audio Research Lab in 2019, where they worked on multiple F0 estimation in polyphonic vocal music. Helena had previously worked as a Research Assistant at the Music Technology Group in 2017, collaborating on the CASAS project. Additionally, Helena had internships at smArDS, where they developed software for audio processing and analysis, and at the PHENICX project at the Music Technology Group. Helena was also a Board Member and Organizer for the Exporecerca Jove conference organized by MAGMA, an NGO promoting research among young people. Helena's career in research began with their participation in the London International Youth Science Forum as part of a scholarship program in 2011.

Helena Cuesta's education history is as follows:

Helena earned their Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Systems Engineering from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, attending from 2011 to 2015. Prior to that, they completed their secondary education at IES El Sui, where they obtained an ESO+A-Level degree in Technology from 2005 to 2011.

In 2016, Helena pursued further studies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, obtaining a Master's degree in Sound and Music Computing. Helena also completed a specialist course in Data Mining and Analysis at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya within the same year.

Helena further advanced their academic qualifications by pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Music Technology/Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, which they are expected to complete in 2022.

Additionally, Helena has obtained various certifications to enhance their skill set. In July 2016, they completed the Talentum Startups Engineering Bootcamp focused on git, gitHub, and SourceTree. Helena also obtained the IELTS Academic certification from the British Council in January 2016, and the Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) from Cambridge English Language Assessment in November 2015.
