Kennon Petersen

Kennon Petersen has a diverse work experience in the energy sector. They started their career at Xcel Energy in 2002 as an Electric Distribution Mapper, responsible for mapping and planning electrical distribution. From 2005 to 2017, they transitioned into the role of Outage Management Approver at Xcel Energy. In this role, they used a complex Geographic Information System (GIS) to predict power outage locations and provide technical support to other GIS users. In 2017, Kennon joined Dakota Electric Association as an Assistant Distribution System Operator, and later in 2019, they became a Project Designer / GIS Mapping specialist. Their experience showcases their knowledge and expertise in GIS, outage management, and electric distribution.

From 1999 to 2002, Kennon Petersen attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Geography.
