Ken Hansen

Ken Hansen is a prominent expert in maritime security with extensive experience as a Proprietor at Hansen Maritime Horizons since January 2014, focusing on research, professional writing, and education. As an Adjunct Professor at Dalhousie University, Ken contributes to the Faculty of Graduate Studies and serves as a Resident Research Fellow at the Centre for Foreign Policy Studies, providing lectures, conducting research, and managing student projects. Ken has held significant roles with various organizations, including a member of the Science Advisory Committee at the Institute for Ocean Research Enterprise and the Security Affairs Committee at the Royal United Services Institute in Halifax. With a background in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1977 to 2009 as a Naval Commander, Ken has also worked as a researcher for the Parliamentary Budget Office, authored columns on maritime security, and participated in editorial activities for the Canadian Naval Review.
