Kim Brooks

Acting Provost & VP, Academic at Dalhousie University

As Provost and Vice-President Academic (Acting), Kim Brooks is Dalhousie University’s senior academic leader. Her work focuses on aligning the university budget and plans with the academic mission, ensuring goals are integrated across both academic and administrative units, and providing a structure to enable clear and efficient decision-making. Dalhousie’s Deans report to the Provost, as do three Vice-Provosts (Students Affairs, Planning & Analytics and Equity & Inclusion) and the Associate Vice-President, Academic.

Kim has served as the Dean of the Schulich School of Law and the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie. She has held the Purdy Crawford Chair in Business Law (Schulich School of Law) and the H. Heward Stikeman Chair in the Law of Taxation at McGill’s Faculty of Law. She has held academic appointments at McGill, UBC, and Queen’s universities. Kim is a 3M National Teaching Fellow. Prior to academic life, Kim practiced tax law with Stikeman Elliott in their Toronto and UK offices.
