Denise McGovern has a range of experience in communications and media roles throughout their career. Denise started in 2000 as an Account Executive at International Public Relations. From there, they moved on to work as a Communications Manager at Andante, where they focused on promotional programs and marketing partnerships for an online classical music site. In 2003, they became a Marketing Coordinator at Universal Music Classics.

In 2004, Denise joined Universal Music Classical/Decca Label Group as a Digital Sales Manager, overseeing all digital retail sales accounts and strategies for various music genres. Denise worked with major artists and labels, including Elton John, Sting, and the Decca and Deutsche Grammophon classical labels.

In 2013, Denise began their tenure at Dallas Symphony Orchestra, initially as a Director of Communications. Denise led communication and media strategies for the orchestra, managed social media and content creation, and represented the DSO in the community. Denise later became the Vice President of Communications, responsible for internal and external communication, press relations, and collaborating on board communication and annual reports. In 2021, they took on the additional role of Vice President of Communications & Media, overseeing strategic external relations and press placements.

Throughout their work experiences, Denise has demonstrated a strong skill set in communication, media relations, strategic planning, and brand representation.

Denise McGovern completed their Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance at Southern Methodist University from 1992 to 1996. Denise further pursued their education at Indiana University Bloomington, where they obtained their Masters of Music degree in Arts Administration from 1996 to 2000.
