Russ Southerland

Russ Southerland has extensive experience in educational settings, working at Dalton Public Schools since July 2000 in various roles including ESS Inclusion Teacher, Psychology/Sociology Teacher at The Dalton Academy, and Assistant Principal at Dalton Middle School. In this leadership position, Russ oversees a staff of over 30 members and approximately 600 students, with responsibilities that encompass the ESOL program, facilities management, and scheduling. Prior to this, Russ served as an Elementary School Counselor at Westside Elementary School from August 1991 to June 2000, providing guidance and counseling services to a K-5 student population of about 750. Educational qualifications include multiple degrees from The University of Georgia, The University of Alabama, and University of West Georgia, with specializations in Counselor Education, Educational Leadership, and Psychology.
