Dan Beard Council, BSA
Herb Packard is an experienced professional with a diverse background in both transportation and program management. Currently serving as a CDL Truck Driver at Hillrom since September 2021, Herb previously held multiple roles within the Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America, including COPE & Climbing Program Manager and Camp Director, managing operations for Camp Friedlander which serviced an average of 3,000 Scouts each summer. Prior experience includes positions as a CDL Driver and Hotshot Driver at Huff Contractors, Inc., as well as a Millwork Assistant at Pater Architectural. Herb's earlier career includes significant roles at Convergys as a Senior Analyst and project manager, providing support for telecommunications systems and software development. With a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from DeVry Institute of Technology, Herb possesses a strong technical foundation alongside practical skills in both education and logistics.

The mission of the Dan Beard Council is to prepare the over 30,000 young people in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Dan Beard Council is the administrative body of the the Boy Scouts of America in the Greater Cincinnati area. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the council operations are completed funded by the Friends of Scouting annual giving campaign, corporate sponsorships, the popcorn sale, activity revenue, and the United Way. Funding is used for program delivery in the form of camp operations, the Scout Achievement Center, professional and support staff, and the many Scouting events held throughout the council each year.
