Research Intern at Divers Alert Network

Marina Kapitanov is a dedicated biomedical engineering student with extensive research experience across multiple prestigious institutions. Currently serving as a Research Intern at Divers Alert Network, Marina is involved in analyzing salivary stress and inflammation markers related to decompression stress. Previous roles include an Undergraduate Researcher at Nagoya University, where investigations focused on hyperbaric pressure effects on osteoblast-like cells, and at the REDesign Lab at NC State, contributing to the development of micro-tissue platforms for muscle and cardiac tissue studies. Earlier research internships include synthesizing chemosensory systems and exploring signaling pathways in an Alzheimer's model at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, as well as developing 3D finite element models of brachial plexus birth injury at the Orthopaedic Mechanobiology Lab. Marina's academic background includes a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from North Carolina State University and exchange studies at Nagoya University and Heidelberg University.
