Hanna Skandera

Hanna Skandera is the current Director at Daniels Fund. Hanna has also previously worked at Newsela, Pepperdine University School of Public Policy, Code.org, The Broad Center, Chiefs for Change, and Academic Partnerships. Hanna Skandera has a long and accomplished work history which is detailed below.

Hanna Skandera began their career in 2007 as the Deputy Chief of Staff & Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of Education. In this role, they were responsible for providing policy and operational support to the Secretary of Education and senior Department leadership.

In 2009, Skandera moved to Academic Partnerships, where they served as the Executive Vice President. In this role, they launched a new dual credit line of business, partnering with universities to convert their traditional degree programs and offerings onto an online platform and interface. This provided more choice for students at lower cost to degree. Skandera recruited and served thousands of students in the first year of implementation. Hanna oversaw content and program development, internal call center and external sales team as well as university and k-12 engagement and customer support.

After a year at Academic Partnerships, Skandera moved to The Line, where they worked for two years before moving to Chiefs for Change in 2012. Chiefs for Change is a nonprofit organization made up of current and former state and district chiefs committed to delivering better results for students.

Skandera received their Masters in American Politics and International Relations from Pepperdine University School of Public Policy and their Bachelor of Business Administration from Sonoma State University.
