Kathy Kaufmann is an experienced lighting designer and faculty member currently working at Sarah Lawrence College since September 2012. With a robust portfolio, Kathy has contributed to various projects as a lighting designer for notable organizations such as Dorrance Dance, Danspace Project, Jody Oberfelder Dance Projects, The Bang Group, and the National Dance Institute. Kathy's career in the arts began with educational foundations earned at New York University, where a BA was completed between 1977 and 1980.

Danspace Project

For over 35 years, Danspace Project has supported a vital community of contemporary dance artists in an environment unlike any other in the United States. Located in the historic St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery, Danspace shares its facility with the Church, The Poetry Project, and The Incubator Arts Project. Danspace Project's Commissioning Initiative has commissioned over 380 new works since its inception in 1994. Mission Statement: Danspace Project presents new work in dance, supports a diverse range of choreographers in developing their work, encourages experimentation, and connects artists to audiences.
