Chief People Officer at Daraz Nepal

Kaushal Mendis has over 18 years of work experience in various roles within Human Resources. Kaushal is currently serving as the Chief People Officer at Daraz since January 2023. Prior to that, they worked at SLIDA as a Governing Council Member starting in February 2020. From April 2017 to January 2023, Kaushal held the position of Director - People & Culture at Pizza Hut Sri Lanka. Kaushal also worked as the Head of Corporate Human Resources at LAUGFS Holdings Limited from September 2016 to March 2017, and as the Head of Human Resources at DHL Express from November 2015 to September 2016.

Earlier in their career, Kaushal held multiple roles at Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CTC), including Marketing Human Resources Manager from April 2013 to November 2015 and Supply Chain Human Resources Manager from February 2012 to April 2013. Kaushal also served as the Manager - Human Resources at American & Efird Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd. (a member of Brandix Lanka) from October 2006 to January 2012, and as an Asst. Manager - HR at Phoenix Industries from January 2006 to September 2006. Kaushal started their career as a Human Resources Executive at Diamond Cutters Ltd. (a member of Lanka Equities) from August 2004 to December 2005.

Kaushal Mendis began their education in 1994 at Ananda College, Colombo. Kaushal completed their schooling there in 2002. In 2003, they enrolled in CIMA and continued their education until 2020. During this time, they did not pursue any specific degree or field of study. In 2004 and 2005, Kaushal attended the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), where they earned a National Diploma in Human Resources Management with a focus on HRM. In 2008, they pursued their MBA in HRM at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMU), completing it in 2010. In 2020, they joined the University of Colombo and obtained a Master's Degree in Labour Relations and Human Resources Management. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctor's Degree in Business Administration at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, which began in 2021 and is expected to be completed by 2025.
