Andres Lopez Gibson has extensive work experience in the energy industry, specifically in the field of reservoir engineering and technology research. Andres started their career at IFF as a laboratory analyst and later worked at ITBA as a laboratory lead analyst. In 2005, they transitioned to Evonik, where they focused on sales and business development of chemical products. In 2007, Andres joined Repsol as a field reservoir engineer and also worked as a waterflooding field supervisor. During their time at Repsol, they participated in the Young Professionals Programme, specializing in reservoir engineering. In 2011, they joined YPF SA as a reservoir simulation engineer and later took on roles as lead EOR and special projects engineer, and tight gas reservoir engineering and digital transformation focal point. In 2020, Andres joined Darcy Partners as an E&P technology research and open innovation management. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated a strong focus on reservoir development planning, simulation, and corporate project management.
Andres Lopez Gibson has a diverse education history spanning several institutions and fields of study. Andres began their education at St. Andrew's Scots School, where they completed a bilingual bachelor's degree in Spanish and English through the International Baccalaureate program from 1984 to 1994. Following this, they pursued a Chemical Technician degree at Instituto La Salle Florida from 1995 to 1998, focusing on the field of Chemistry.
Building on their foundation in chemistry, Andres went on to obtain a MEng in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires between 2002 and 2006. This degree provided him with a deep understanding of Chemical Engineering principles and applications.
To expand their knowledge beyond a single discipline, they then attended Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires again in 2007, where they specialized in Reservoir Engineering through a specialty program at ISE Argentina. This program was a valuable opportunity for him to develop expertise in the field of Reservoir Engineering.
Andres continued to explore different areas of interest by pursuing a Master of Science (MSc) degree in "Energy & Environmental Economics and Policies" at Universidad Nacional del Comahue from 2008 to 2011. This program allowed him to gain a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between energy, the environment, economics, and policies.
In 2013, they centered their education on project management, earning a Project Management Diploma from Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires. This diploma equipped him with the necessary skills to effectively manage and lead projects. Simultaneously, they also pursued an Executive Program in Negotiation and Conflict Management at Facultad de Ciencias Económicas, Universidad de Buenos Aires, honing their negotiation skills.
