Dr Heydon Hall

Dr. Heydon Hall has a diverse work experience spanning over numerous roles and industries. Dr Heydon has served as the Chief Information Officer at Dark Fibre Africa since 2022, where they have been responsible for implementing a full system turnaround strategy and driving innovation in process and operating structures. Prior to that, Dr. Hall worked as the Managing Director/Chief Innovator at Sagacious Jones from 2020, specializing in AI, RPA, and Big Data fields, with a focus on automated underwriting and pricing in the commercial insurance industry.

From 2017 to 2020, Dr. Hall held the position of CIO at Old Mutual Insure, overseeing an IT turnaround and leveraging digital components to transform the company into a cloud-based digitally integrated business. Dr Heydon collaborated with global business partners, including Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, and Tia. Before that, they served as the CIO at Regent Insurance from 2011 to 2017, leading the IT turnaround and integration of straight-through processing capability in addition to being part of the M&A team for the sale of the Life and ST (direct) company into Hollard Insurance Company.

Dr. Hall's work experience also includes serving as a Senior IT Consultant at Ovations Technologies (Pty) Ltd from 2010 to 2011, where they focused on IT turnaround strategies, frameworks, and recruitment for Iliad, a listed building and retail group. Furthermore, they have held positions as the CEO at CyberGroup of Companies Africa Pty Ltd, Director at Virtual Supply Chain Systems, General Manager of e-Business (Ford, Mazda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo) at Ford Motor Company, and Senior Manager of New Markets Development & IT Integration at Continental.

Before their roles in the technology sector, Dr. Hall served as the Manager of Forex and Exports at Cadbury plc. in 1992. Dr Heydon is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in strategy, business transformation, governance, digital implementation, and global partnerships.

Dr Heydon Hall received a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, where they studied IT, Economics, Business, Marketing, and Law from 1987 to 1992. Dr Heydon then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Oxford Brookes University, focusing on Business, IT, and Marketing between 2001 and 2004. Lastly, Dr Hall completed a Doctor of Commerce (DCom) degree at the University of Johannesburg, specializing in Quantum leadership (Fac: Perf, L/ship & Change) with a combination of Business, Physics, Leadership, and Digital studies from 2006 to 2008.
