Padmini Pillai, Ph.D., is a Special Assistant to the Director at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and was selected as a 2024-25 White House Fellow. An immunoengineer by training, Dr. Pillai earned a Ph.D. in Immunobiology from Yale University and conducted significant research on excessive inflammation and potential treatments for human diseases. They have also worked as a Research Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focused on developing tumor-selective RNA nanotherapies for cancer treatment. Additionally, Dr. Pillai is an accomplished musician who has performed as a backup vocalist for Grammy award-winning artist Angélique Kidjo.
