Dartmouth Investment and Philanthropy Program
The Dartmouth Investment and Philanthropy Program is an undergraduate, student-run organization that manages a $700,000+ equity portfolio. Each year, DIPP distributes a portion of its capital gains to local and international philanthropic endeavors. DIPP was established in 2007 after receiving seed funding from a group of Dartmouth alumni who believed in the importance of real, hands-on investing experience for undergraduates. The organization currently has over 100 active members that participate in weekly meetings that feature student-orchestrated stock pitches, economic/market updates, and alumni speakers. Our members meet once per week to pitch novel investment ideas and review DIPP’s current portfolio holdings. Each term, members are assigned to work on two stock pitches, which allows them to expand their knowledge of the financial industry and develop meaningful experiences. DIPP aims to educate members on value investing principles; prepare members for future careers in finance by organizing on-campus/virtual recruiting events; and extend our reach beyond investment management by donating a percentage of our gains as grants to campus-based charitable organizations.
