Rhys Jones serves as the General Manager - Strategy and Growth at Darwin Port since August 2018, a role dedicated to advancing the strategic development and growth of the port through high-quality infrastructure delivery. Prior to this position, Rhys held the General Manager - Engineering role at Darwin Port, overseeing the maintenance and function of port assets, including seven operational berths. Rhys's career includes key positions at Rio Tinto, where responsibilities ranged from Superintendent of Asset Management and Engineering Services at Dampier Port to Senior Port Engineer at Pilbara Port Operations. Rhys's engineering expertise was further developed through earlier roles as Marine Operations Engineer and Project Engineer at INPEX and BMT JFA Consultants, respectively, focusing on critical projects such as the Ichthys LNG development and various maritime engineering initiatives. Educational credentials include a Company Directors Course from the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a degree in Engineering, Applied Ocean Science from The University of Western Australia.
