Scott Hirleman

Scott Hirleman is the Founder, CEO, and Chief Data Mesh Assistance Officer at Data Mesh Understanding, a role held since June 2023, focusing on connecting data mesh practitioners. As the host of the Data Mesh Radio Podcast since December 2021, Scott explores various aspects of data mesh while providing listeners a summary to determine episode relevance. Previously, Scott served as a Community Advisor at the Data Mesh Learning Community, alongside being a Data Mesh Evangelist, collaborating with Zhamak Dehghani on community initiatives. Notable prior positions include Friendly Research Spider and Community Consultant at DataStax, where Scott aimed to promote diversity and inclusion within the data management space, as well as Director of Business Operations at Import.io, and roles focusing on cloud cost management and business process optimization across multiple companies. Scott holds a BBA and BA in Finance and Chinese from the University of Iowa, achieved in 2006. Currently, Scott is on hiatus and expected to return mid-November.
