Livia Garofalo

Researcher, Health + Data/trustworthy Infrastructures at Data & Society Research Institute

Livia Garofalo has worked in a variety of roles since 2007. In 2011, they were a Census taker for the Italian Census 2011 at Comune di San Giovanni in Persiceto. That same year, they also worked as an Electronic Resources Assistant at the John Regenstein Library at The University of Chicago. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Research Assistant and Project coordinator at the University of Chicago Medicine. Livia then worked as a Researcher and Instructor in Medical Anthropology at Northwestern University from 2014 to 2018. In 2018, they were a Fulbright Fellow US/Argentina at the Fulbright Association. Most recently, they have been a Researcher in Health + Data at the Data & Society Research Institute since 2021.

Livia Garofalo has an extensive educational background. Livia obtained their Bachelor's degree/ Laurea in Cultural Anthropology from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna in 2007-2010. Livia then completed an MA Exchange student with "Overseas" fellowship at the University of Chicago in 2010-2011. Following this, they completed a Master's Degree in Cultural Anthropology from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna in 2010-2012. Livia also obtained certifications from the University of Chicago Medicine in 2014 and Fundación Trauma in 2018. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Cultural/Medical Anthropology from Northwestern University in 2014-2021, as well as a Masters in Public Health from Northwestern University - The Feinberg School of Medicine in 2014-2020.
