Upol E. has a diverse work experience starting in 2015. They began as a Research Scientist at Georgia Institute of Technology, where they focused on fostering meaningful human-AI collaboration and developing Explainable AI systems. They also worked as a Graduate Researcher and Visiting Researcher at Cornell University, conducting research on human team dynamics and AI-mediated decision support systems. Additionally, Upol E. served as a Cofounder at DeshLabs and a Product Development Consultant at Potluck, llc., where they contributed to the development of innovative technologies. They also gained industry experience as a Senior User Experience Researcher at People Power Company, conducting research on social interactions and developing design principles for the senior care market. Currently, Upol E. is a Doctoral Researcher at Georgia Institute of Technology and a Research Affiliate at Data & Society Research Institute. They also have completed internships at Microsoft, IBM, and Google, gaining experience in the field of AI research.

Upol E. began their education in 2009 at Washington and Lee University, where they pursued dual degrees. From 2009 to 2013, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physics-Engineering and Mathematics, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Philosophy. In 2012, they attended Virginia Military Institute, where they completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2013. Later, from 2015 to 2017, Upol E. attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, obtaining a Master of Science in Human Computer Interaction.
