Joy Hopkins has a diverse work experience with a focus on education, consulting, and nonprofit organizations. Joy currently works as a Data Science Teaching Assistant at Data Society. Joy Hopkins has a diverse education history with a focus on web development and arts management. Joy started their education in 1993 at James Madison University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Industry in 1997. Following this, they attended American University from 1998 to 2000 and earned a Master of Arts degree in Arts Management.

In 2015, Joy enrolled in Skillcrush and studied Freelance WordPress Development for a year. Joy then pursued further education in web development by attending Skillcrush again from 2020 to 2022, this time focusing on Front-End Web Development. Concurrently, they enrolled in freeCodeCamp and is expected to receive a Full Stack Web Development Certification by 2022.

Joy has also obtained several additional certifications to enhance their skill set. In 2016, they completed courses in PHP, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript fundamentals through SoloLearn. Joy also received certifications in technical writing and project management from Universal Class. Furthermore, they obtained certificates as a Front-End Web Developer and User Experience Designer from Lynda.com in 2017 and was awarded the Junior WordPress Developer Certificate in 2019 from the same institution.

Finally, in the language learning realm, Joy has achieved approximately 50% Spanish fluency according to Duolingo in 2015.
