Hugh Loughrey MSc has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries.
Hugh started their most recent role as a Software Engineer at Dataminr in 2022.
Prior to that, they worked at Purplebricks Group PLC from 2017 to 2021, where they initially served as a Frontend Developer before being promoted to Senior Frontend Developer & Tech Lead. In this role, they were responsible for building new features and migrating codebase to React micro-frontends, implementing quality standards and automated testing, and coaching individuals and squads on testing strategies.
From 2016 to 2017, Hugh worked at TerraQuest as a Software Developer, contributing to software development projects.
In 2015, they served as a GIS Engineer at EROAD, where they developed automated workflows, customer-facing reports, and performance improvements to the company's database queries.
From 2011 to 2014, they worked at Hoople as a GIS Application Analyst, managing and integrating GIS data and migrating corporate data holding to PostGIS.
Hugh's early career includes a role as a GIS Technician at Herefordshire Council from 2008 to 2011, where they managed and integrated the council's GIS data holding, and as a BS7666 Technician, managing the council's Local Land and Property Gazetteer and Local Street Gazetteer.
Through their work experience, Hugh has gained expertise in software engineering, frontend development, GIS, automation, and database management.
Hugh Loughrey MSc obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geography from Northumbria University in the years 2004 to 2007. Subsequently, they pursued further education at The Manchester Metropolitan University from 2009 to 2012 and earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in GIS and Management.
