Omar Safwat has a diverse work experience. Omar started as a Machine Learning Engineer at dataroots in 2022, where they built Multimodal ML models for weather nowcasting and optimized model deployment on edge devices. Omar also set up cloud services on Azure and implemented CI/CD workflows for PySpark pipelines and model inference.
Previously, Omar worked as a Deep Learning Engineer at VRapeutic, Inc. from October 2021 to January 2022.
In 2021, Omar had an internship as a Data Scientist at Data Glacier, where they worked on the complete Data Science pipeline and developed a machine learning WebApp for classifying NTM patients based on medication adherence.
Before entering the field of data science, Omar served as a Mechanical Design Team Leader from August 2019 to September 2020, leading a team in the innovation and manufacturing of a thermal membrane desalination unit for commercial use. Despite challenges posed by COVID-19, the project was successful, achieving a distilled water product of 10 (kg/m2.hr).
Omar's earliest work experience was with Team Lycans, where they served as the Colonists Delivery Aircraft team leader. During their time there, they contributed to the development and manufacturing of an Autonomous glider and was recognized for their role in the design, securing the 1st place prize in 2019. In their second year, they focused on tail design, stability analysis, and led the Autonomous glider design team.

Omar Safwat has a diverse education history. In 2021, they attended the Information Technology Institute (ITI) and earned a Diploma of Education in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Prior to that, from 2015 to 2020, they studied at Alexandria University and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering Sciences (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering. Omar'ssecondary education was completed at Sidi Gabir Language School from 2003 to 2015, where they received a secondary education diploma known as Thanaweya Amma.
