Don Bennett, PE, currently serves as a Traffic and Signals Engineer at DAVENPORT since June 2020, following a distinguished career as the City Traffic Engineer for the City of Wilmington from October 1997 to June 2020. During that time, Don Bennett demonstrated progressively increasing responsibilities, managing the City’s Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), overseeing traffic engineering operations, and leading efforts in traffic impact studies and intersection safety. Previous experience includes various roles at the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), where Don Bennett worked as a Transportation Tech and held positions focused on traffic signal design and analysis from May 1990 to October 1997. Don Bennett began career involvement at NCDOT as a temporary assistant and survey crew member in the summer of 1989 while completing a BS in Civil Engineering at North Carolina State University, which was awarded in 1990, following high school graduation from South Johnston High School in 1985.
