Samuel Blackman

Head of R&D at Day One Biopharmaceuticals

Dr. Samuel Blackman is a Co-founder and the Chief Medical Officer at Day One Biopharmaceuticals. Samuel is a medical doctor and pharmaceutical executive with over a decade of experience in the industry. Prior to their current role, Dr. Blackman served as the Head of Clinical Development at Mavupharma, Inc., where they were responsible for devising the clinical development strategy and planning towards an IND for their lead compound, MV-104. Mavupharma was acquired by Abbvie in July 2019.

Before joining Mavupharma, Dr. Blackman was the Senior Vice President, Head of Clinical Development at Silverback Therapeutics, where they oversaw all clinical development activities. Prior to that, they served as the Executive Director, Head of Translational Medicine at Juno Therapeutics, where they were responsible for clinical leadership of the CD19 CAR T cell program for B cell malignancies.

Dr. Blackman began their pharmaceutical career as the Director, Oncology Early Clinical Development at GlaxoSmithKline, where they worked for two years before moving to Seattle Genetics in 2012. At Seattle Genetics, they served as the Executive Director, Head of Translational Medicine for two years before joining Silverback Therapeutics in 2016.

Dr. Blackman is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and has a bachelor's degree from Yale University.

Dr. Samuel Blackman is a medical doctor who attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine for their MD. Samuel then went on to get their PhD in pharmacology from the University of Illinois Chicago. Before attending medical school, Dr. Blackman completed their BA in philosophy from the University of Chicago. Samuel is also certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in American Board of Pediatrics.
