Karlos L. Marshall serves as the Dayton Metro Library's inaugural Chief Diversity Officer and oversees strategic planning related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. He joined the Library after nearly a decade-long career at the University of Dayton (UD) where he held numerous roles and established the first-ever Gem City Black Business Month as the Manager of Greater West Dayton Incubator.
As the Co-Founder and President of The Conscious Connect, Inc., his efforts to end book deserts across the Greater Miami Valley Region have led to some of the following recognitions: United States Library of Congress Literacy Awards Best Practice Honoree, International Literacy Association '30 Under 30,' Forbes '30 Under 30,' and Next City Vanguard to name a few.
Karlos obtained his master's degree in higher education administration from UD, a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Wittenberg University, and he will complete his doctorate degree from UD in 2022.
