Director, Engineering & Design at DBM Vircon

Greg Newcomb is the current Director of Engineering & Design at DBM Vircon. Greg has been in this position since October 2018. Prior to this, they were the Design Group Lead at DBM Vircon from March 2017 to September 2018.

Before DBM Vircon, Greg worked as a Completions Coordinator - Ichthys LNG at KBR, Inc. from September 2016 to March 2017. In this role, they were responsible for the successful handover of LNG, LPG & Utility separable portions from Construction and Commissioning over to Operations. This involved the expediting and closure of all outstanding Walkdowns, ITRs and Punch List items prior to review and signoff, as well as tracking and keeping an active involvement in the management and closure of exceptions.

Some of Greg's key responsibilities included implementing Site Completions Management System per Project and Site Procedures, maintaining appropriate ITRs (Inspection Test Records), overseeing the uploading of ITRs within the Completions Management System, ensuring Change Controls were incorporated into the Completions Management System, administering and coordinating discipline Sub-System Handover Walkdowns and Seperable Portion Walkdowns, managing Punch List tracking, support and closeout in cooperation with the Construction, Quality, Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning Teams, verifying the contents of each subsystem (all disciplines) aligned between system limits and Completion Management System, and ensuring that engineering documentation and dossiers were compiled and were in place to accommodate handover at Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning and Start-Up phases of the Project.

Greg Newcomb has a diploma in leadership and management from Leadership Management Australia as well as a diploma of project management from Pro-System. Greg also has a diploma of engineering in mechanical engineering from Central Institute of Technology.
