Deniece Clifford has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Deniece began their career as a Financial Analyst at Royal Bank in 1995. From 2002 to 2006, they worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Howard University, where they conducted research experiments and collected data for neurodevelopment studies. In 2007, they joined the University of the District of Columbia as an Assistant Event Services and Space Reservation Coordinator before moving up to the role of Manager of Operations and Event Services in 2013. During their time at the university, they managed construction projects and was responsible for project management, planning, budgeting, and marketing. In 2020, Deniece became the Director of Administrative Services at DC Public Library, where they served as the principal liaison between the Chief Business Officer and various team members. Deniece managed compliance, oversaw the agency's purchase card program, coordinated the ratification program, managed parking operations, and assisted with budget formulation and presentations.

Deniece Clifford earned a Master's Degree in Homeland Security from the University of the District of Columbia, completing their studies from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics from Howard University, attending from 1997 to 2001. In addition to their formal education, Deniece obtained several certifications, including "Difficult Conversations: Talking about Race at Work," "New Manager Foundations," and "Unconscious Bias," all from LinkedIn, in February 2021.
