Nathalie Chuard

Nathalie Chuard has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Nathalie is currently the Director and Ambassador at DCAF - Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance since March 2023. Prior to that, they served as an Ambassador at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA from May 2020 to February 2023. Additionally, they held the position of Head of Division Humanitarian Aid MENA at FDFA from January 2018 to May 2020.

Previously, Nathalie worked at FDFA from 2008 to 2017 in various positions, including heading the Political Affairs Team from June 2014 to August 2017 and serving as the Deputy Head of the Political Affairs Team from July 2013 to June 2014. Nathalie also held the role of Deputy Head of the Human Rights Section from May 2009 to June 2013 and worked as an Attaché from May 2008 to April 2009.

Before joining the FDFA, Nathalie worked as a Freelance Consultant from April 2007 to March 2008, a Head of Research, Analysis, and Information at the Temporary International Presence in Hebron from October 2005 to March 2007, and a Roving Delegate at Terre des hommes foundation from February 2005 to July 2005.

Nathalie also had significant experience with Terre des hommes foundation, where they served as the Head of Mission from January 2004 to December 2004 and as a Roving Delegate from February 2003 to January 2004. From August 2001 to December 2002, they worked as the Deputy Delegate and Head of Office at Terre des hommes foundation.

At the beginning of their career, Nathalie worked as a Junior Program Officer at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs from January 2000 to June 2001.

Nathalie Chuard obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Langues et civilisations slaves, histoire, sciences politiques from the University of Lausanne - UNIL, which they attended from 1992 to 1998. Additionally, they briefly studied at the Saint Petersburg University of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in 1997 and at the University of Bern from 1995 to 1996.
