Nelson Afonso

Nelson Afonso, P.Eng. has extensive experience in aerospace engineering, currently serving as Aerospace Senior Engineer and Work Package Team Leader at De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited since 2019, overseeing freighter conversion interior design and integration. Prior roles include Chief of Interiors Engineering and Design at BOMBARDIER from 2012 to 2019, where oversight of a 20-person team and leadership on various interior projects were key responsibilities. Nelson has also held positions as an Aerospace Engineer at BOMBARDIER and Boeing, focusing on engineering design, systems integration, and project management across multiple interior and structural components. Nelson holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace from Ryerson University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Space Science and Technology at The Open University, having also completed a certificate from the International Space University.
