Dr Geoff Russell Nem

Dr. Geoff Russell NEM is an accomplished academic and consultant with extensive experience in communications and media. Currently serving at Deakin University within the School of Communication & Creative Arts since November 2019, Dr. Russell also operates as the Principal Consultant for Burke & Russell Media. Prior roles include Manager of Corporate Communication and Marketing for the City of Greater Geelong, where leadership of a 19-member team was crucial in managing communications for the city's leadership and council, and Manager of Communications for Health and Human Services Emergency Management, directing internal and external communications across various emergency services. Dr. Russell has significant governmental experience, having served as Senior Communications Adviser at the Department of Sustainability and Environment and as a research officer for the Parliament of Victoria. An education background includes a PhD in Australian History from La Trobe University and multiple degrees from Deakin University.
