Michael Gibbs

Michael Gibbs is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in health, safety, and sustainability, currently serving as the Director of Health and Safety and Manager of Sustainability Strategy at Deakin University since July 2015. In this role, Michael leads the development of sustainability strategies across various domains, ensuring alignment with Deakin Sustainability Commitments and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Prior to this, Michael was the Risk Management Coordinator at the City of Greater Geelong, where responsibilities included overseeing OHS, WorkCover, and enterprise risk management. Earlier career experience includes positions at PaperlinX as a Safety and Systems Graduate, contributing to health and safety management systems. Michael holds a Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Hazard Management and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Nursing from Federation University Australia.
